District V

Welcome back all District V members!  I hope everyone had a great summer.  For some it was a time of rest and relaxation.  Others worked at continuing education, participating in workshops, clinics, or attending conferences.  For all of us, our job and responsibilities are never far from our thoughts.

The September Issue of the Louisiana Musician will include entry forms and the calendar of events for the school year.  Please enter these dates in your personal calendars.  Be aware of all deadlines.  Plan ahead—submit check requests to school secretaries in a timely manner.

I want to thank the many teachers—both active and retired, who helped with all the District V events.  You are most appreciated.  Bruce Lambert and Anna Lou Babin will be in charge of festivals again this year.  Please submit entry forms to them.  Please check forms to make sure they are complete.  Include taping fees with your entries. 

I encourage all members to participate in conferences, festivals, honor chorus, and all the exciting events available to you and your students.  I also emphasize the importance of attending your local District meetings.  In the technological world we live in, some people don’t really see the need for meetings.  Yes, we can stay in touch with phone calls, text messages, e-mails, web sites, etc.  But sometimes it is more beneficial to sit and talk face to face with your fellow educators.
