GENERAL INFORMATION

 

Directions:  Take the Ryan St. exit off Interstate 10.  Turn Right (south). Go 2 blocks , take right on Mill St.
Go 1 block, take left on Lakeshore Drive. Go 2 blocks. Civic Center is on the right.
Take the 2nd entrance into the south parking lot.  (not the circular drive)

 

Check In:  Upon arrival at the Lake Charles Civic Center, unload buses in the South parking lot.
Directors should proceed to the festival office located in the
2nd floor lobby of the Rosa Hart Theater.
Scores for the judges will be turned in at this time.

 

Scores:  Three numbered scores for each selection are required.
All scores must be ORIGINALS or you must have an official letter from the PUBLISHER.
Any violation of this rule will result in the choir not being adjudicated.

 

Warm-up:  Warm-up times are listed on your schedule.
The choirs will leave for the stage five minutes before performance time.
NO groups will be allowed to warm-up on the main stage.
Remember, warm-up time  is not a rehearsal.

 

Timing Rule:  A performing group will be penalized one (1) division in the Concert area if, in the opinion of the L.M.E.A. Official and the festival judges, that group caused, either by action or inaction, the festival to fall more than 10 minutes behind schedule do to warm-up activities and/or performance beyond the allotted  time limitations.
Groups following the offending group shall NOT be penalized unless they are judged to have caused the festival
to fall an additional 10 minutes behind.
Such penalties shall be assessed after the choir’s performance.

 

Ratings:  At the conclusion of a group’s performance, judges will place rating sheets and tapes
in an envelope and SEAL the envelope.
The envelopes will remain unopened in the festival office until the director arrives and opens them.
The ratings will be given to the L.M.E.A. Official and  posted.
Please tell your students the ratings outside, away from the auditorium.

Balcony:  Participating directors will be allowed in the top area of the balcony.

Please remember:  If you bring more than one choir, each must read a different selection.

 

Dressing: Dressing facilities will be the rest room areas located in the 2nd floor lobby of the Civic Center.

 

Parking:  Buses will park free on the Civic Center south parking lot. Cars may have to pay a parking fee
during certain times of the festival because of Contraband Days.
